This review is from: Fido [DVD] (DVD)
I'd never heard of this film and watched without any expectations but was totally drawn into a surprisingly touching story.
Shot in black and white there's such a strong nostalgic sentimentality to the setting, 1950's `gee mister' Americana, that it's impossible not to feel affection for the principle character, the zombie `hero' of the story - Fido and his `family'. Think back to Mr Ed, early Lassie movies etc, image zombies pacified for domestic use with collars provided by an all pervasive corporation, white picket fence communities living in fenced off safe zones and you'll have an idea what to expect.
A funny, fresh and touching take on the zombie story that works beautifully - a genuine treat.
