Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Humax HDR-1010S 1TB (1000GB) HD TV Freesat Recorder with Free Time and Wifi (requires Satellite dish) (Electronics)
Moving from Sky we already had a satellite dish installed and so setting up the FreeSat box was simplicity itself – disconnect Sky HD box, connect Humax box. The whole process took less than ten minutes and we were up and running.
On the plus side there appears to be significantly more recording capacity on this box versus the Sky box, and access to home wi-fi gives us 'on-demand' programmes via iPlayer etc; we can even access You Tube.
One (minor) downside is that on starting up whereas the Sky box would start almost immediately, the Humax takes a few seconds to 'warm up', but this is no worse than a modern laptop and not a problem in practice.
I would have noted the lack of sports coverage on FreeSat versus Sky as something to consider before switching if you're an existing Sky customer, but I guess the recent BT announcement will render that point irrelevant very soon?

Concertina Chap says:
The reason the Humax boxes take longer to start up from sleep than the Sky boxes is because the Sky boxes aren't really asleep. The result is that in sleep mode the Humax boxes use a lot, lot less power.
