Escapism at its very best!,
This review is from: The Glass Apple (Kindle Edition)
It's a long time since I have read a book based around a world filled with myth and magic, where adventure is rife and fantasy becomes reality. After reading 'The Glass Apple' I realised just how much I had missed that opportunity to escape into another, if somewhat similar world, and how great it is to be gripped by an absolutely cracking story! The different threads of the story are so intricately woven it provides a depth to the tale which is unusual in its richness, something many other works in the genre lack. I love the way that the scenes are described, there is such colour and vivacity in the writing which makes each scene come alive.
This is a tale from which there is very little lacking. The storyline winds its way through the differing landscapes and time periods with ease. The characters are so well drawn for us by the author that we can envision them clearly right from the very start. We come to see them so well that we care about what befalls them, and feel for them in every situation. The ancient ones are brought to our attention from our long forgotten past and the old ways are brought back to life with insight and respect.
I finished the book with a keen desire to known what happens next in the story, a response which every good cliff hanger should evoke. I will definitely be reading the second book in the series 'Spiders Web' so I know what happens to everyone!
