My first foray into the world of digital radio was with the Aves Digital Radio/Alarm clock (brilliant by the way) so I just knew that I wanted this when I saw it. The unit itself feels chunky and well-made yet neat and not bulky so that it gets in the way of other decor. The buttons are slightly rubberised and labelled clearly. You might not think much of this point but my future father in law struggles with the buttons on things because often they are too small for him to see. I think this unit is suitable for all age ranges and my FIL enjoys using this on the odd occasion when he's house-sitting for us.
The sound quality on this is excellent (albeit I have not tried any other brand of DAB radio so bear that in mind), it's loud, it's clear and it really makes listening to the radio a pleasure again. Once plugged in it seemed to set the time and date by itself so was usable from the box without the need for a manual (although it does come with comprehensive instructions). I love the way that the dial plays the name of the song that is playing and the artist! Never again will I have to go through that 'I love this song but don't know who it's by' agony.
It also comes with a place to charge your iphone and ipods. My fiance and I both have different models of ipods - the big 'classic' one and the nano. Both fit wonderfully on the dock and it's great that you can charge them somewhere really obvious.
All in all I absolutely love this radio and think it's good quality and works brilliantly. I love that you can charge your ipods through it - it would SO handy if you had an iphone and could charge it this way too. I would definitely recommend this item to others.
