Book 3 and 4 of the Hunter series,
This review is from: The Hunters - Interlude (Paperback)
Byron & Kit:
Byron has known Kit since she was a small child. As her father lay dying, he promised him that he would look after his daughter as if she was his own. Years have passed and now Kit is all grown up, and one of the strongest women he has ever known. She stands by his side (yet not by his side), helping him run his territory. The "child" thinks she is in love with him but Byron knows this cannot be true...remembering his promise to her father he pushes her away. Will he realise what he has to lose before he pushes her too far?
Jonathan & Lori:
Jonathan wanted Lori at first sight - that was seven years ago. However, she is far too innocent for someone like him so he denies his need for a mate. Lori has loved him just as long and is hurt by his rejection of her...
Like her sister, Sarel, Lori is a witch, but unlike her sister, she is a healer and not a Warrior. As dark forces gather and mark Jonathan as a target, Jonathan starts seeing Lori for what she is, how special she is and what she means to him. And when Lori makes the ultimate sacrifice, proving just how powerful she actually is, he will finally understand how much he means to her...
Byron & Kit's story is a short but sweet taste of the Hunters, one that was very enjoyable. Jonathan and Lori's journey is more bittersweet, filled with complex layers and emotions. We are given deeper glimpses into the personalities of many characters, and hints of what is to come in future stories. You will find yourself moved to tears of sadness as well as happiness by the fate of these courageous and loyal beings.
Shiloh Walker has created a unique and intriguing world of magic, sensuality, and blood that is fierce and binding. Each story will leave you wanting more. Her writing keeps getting better with added dimensions and layers that keep you guessing.
This book can stand-alone, however, you will get far more enjoyment out of it if you read the Books 1 and 2 first which are in The Hungers: The Beginning.
