Below Par Service,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Kensington 7 Port Hub (Accessory)
Ordered on 17th December 2010, arrived on 7th January 2011 - so don't hold your breath while waiting for it to arrive!
Oh and they can't use Christmas mail as an excuse as I ordered an item from west coast USA on 22nd December 2010 and it arrived 24th December 2010 - that is what I call service.
So 1* for delivery.
When unpacked the literature states "The included AC power adaptor must be used for maximum performance"!
The only power adaptor included is a Euro 2 pin type, absolutely no use to me in the UK unless I go out and spend additionally money on an adaptor. Not what I expect when ordering an item off Amazon UK web site.
So come on AMAZON, reviews are littered with comments such as mine where you obviously source Euro items for UK users that arrive with Euro connectors, making them useless unless additional money is spent on adaptors. Either
1) Specify on the item description that the item comes with Euro leads so buyers do not feel you are deceiving them.
2) Use your influence to insist your suppliers ship items with UK leads or at the very least adaptors when items are being shipped to the UK.
So how come the review has 2* when so far all we have is a 1* for delivery and 0* for service?
Well the hub feels very secure and weighty, it has 7 USB ports which is plenty to connect peripherals to and a row of green LED's at the front show you which ports are active, so it promises to work well just as soon as I can power it from the mains. It did update my iPhone using power from the USB connector so obviously it can operate low power operations without being connected to mains power but so far it has failed to detect an external USB HDD so I am assuming it needs the additional power to do that.
It would seem unfair to judge the hub on the basis of failings by Amazon and the supplier so I am fairly hopeful it will work perfectly once the necessary adaptor has been obtained.
So a 5* is awarded for appears at first view to be a solid, well made and highly capable device.
5* + 0* + 1* = 6*
6* divided by 3 = 2*
So 2* is my average rating for this buying experience - Amazon take note!
