Harry Potter & the Seven Clones,
This review is from: Orphan Black [DVD] (DVD)
I watched this on BBC3 recently because it was recommended by some newspaper or other but I must confess to being pretty disappointed by it. It was obviously an attempt by the Beeb to appeal to the Harry Potter generation and the dead-eyed, short attention spanned US audience.
From the very beginning you can see why it was tucked away on BBC3 and screened as quickly as possible in double slots on a Friday night. The story was dire and far from engaging or interesting. The script was dire and the characters paper thin and far from believable. I actually thought Tatiana Maslany made a pretty good stab at playing all the different roles but it was always going to be an impossible task to be convincing in such a disparate set of roles. Her portrayal of Beth the hard-nosed cop for instance was frankly laughable and the scenes with her partner Art Bell very hard to swallow indeed. Ironically Kevin Hanchard was probably the one actor who surfaced after the carnage with distinction which only served to highlight the lack of quality all around him. To be honest it was all just a bit of a mess; a teenage drama but with obviously adult themes! Odd.
As with so many popular dramas, there were endless plot twists and "edge of the seat" moments but it never strayed into the vaguely believable. Recommended if you like Spooks, Heroes, The Shield, Lost or Harry Potter (and you are an adult (or over 18 anyway)), otherwise avoid like the plague.

Her portrayal of Beth the hard nosed cop was pretty much her stepping in front of a train. After that she was acting as one character pretending to be a hard nosed cop. Perhaps you shouldn't mention short attention spans.

So her portrayal of someone pretending to be a cop was deliberately bad to show she was an imposter. I've got it. Thanks for clearing that up. Ooh look a butterfly.

So you comment about character that doesn't really exist in the show, then perceive a correction to your mistake as comment on the quality of the acting.
You seem to see everything through some strange black hole to a parallel universe, where things aren't quite the same as here! While that is quite cool, it's not really helpful when reviewing things.
The 3 stars you gave the show is actually pretty fair, though surprising considering the negative tone of your review.

To be honest with you, this was an instantly forgettable series and my review was equally poor. For some reason I struggled to write one for this show. You are probably right... but I can't be bothered to even think about it. I have changed my review but it's still 3 star in my opinion (the review that is).

Dyspeptic Spirit - If you really hated the show so much, and didn't want to write a review, then why bother writing a review at all?!
Secondly, I note that you also give BREAKING BAD and THE BRIDGE an equally poor rating, despite them being some of the best pieces of TV since THE WIRE.
Either there's something wrong with you, or you have no sense of taste when it comes to decent TV.

Sorry to blow your mind but there is always a third possibility ie. that I have a different opinion to you which is equally valid? Why do people like you always think that only positive views should be aired? A lot of people (like me) appreciate well written intelligent independent reviews. My review may not fulfil all of those criteria but it does at least lend some balance to all the braindead 5 star reviews above.
Also if you read my reviews you will realise that I liked the first couple of series of Breaking Bad and also gave The Bridge four stars which is actually pretty good.
PS. WHY THE CAPITALS?
