Plug this in and prepare to be horrified.
Who would have thought that three Panasonic DECT phones touted as 'green' were each using £5 of electricity a year? Or that the digital TV amplifier was chomping through about £20 even when every device was turned off? Or the Pure digital radio that was helping itself to £6 a year simply to top up its battery?
Operates in two modes, continuous (for items drawing power all the time) and average (those only drawing power some of the time such as fridge freezers); high-draw devices used intermittently (dryers or TV sets) can be calculated from the power consumption in kilowatt hours (1,000 watts for one hour = 1kWh).
Limitations: on that subject, it would have been good to have an average cost per hour for appliances such as dryers that are used only intermittently but you can always do the sums yourself.
