thought-provoking and moving,
This review is from: Moon [DVD] (DVD)
The first copy I bought of this film would not play without the commentary, so I would advise anyone only to buy it when you can get a refund!
However I since got another copy which does play, and felt I should change my review, as it really is a very good film, very sad, but also making us think in important ways about the implications of cloning and what it is to be human. As a big fan of Sam Rockwell I was very pleased to see him often on screen in two roles at once - this does add up to an epic amount of screen time! His double role shows his incredible skill and naturalness as an actor. It may be that four stars is ungenerous, but I find its emphasis on solitude isn't quite transcended in the memory, and it leaves me with a feeling of bleakness. The music is very effective but also rather disconsolate. In a sense this is absolutely right, but I'm probably not a true science fiction fan. At all events, it is well worth seeing.
