This review is from: Whatever Happened to Billy Parks (Kindle Edition)
With Billy as an all-too-believable composite of all those metropolitan fancy dan "flair" players of the 70's who never quite lived up to their promise, and who now make a living by gathering the scraps from nostalgic fans. He has apparently been given the chance by fate to relive history and replace Kevin Hector as the late sub who missed a chance for England to beat Poland and go to the 1974 World Cup. Only slight grumble is with some of the real life football detail that Billy has been inserted into, but I suppose given the whopping suspension of belief the whole story requires, that is a minor quibble. Having said that, Bill Shankly and Matt Busby were never Glaswegians. As a teenage football obsessive at the time (and a West Ham fan) I really enjoyed it.
