Not great, but worth watching!,
This review is from: The Grind [DVD] (DVD)
I've been waiting ages for this film to be released. I'm a big fan of Red Dwarf & I couldn't wait to see Danny-John Jules in this film. Without giving too much away, Danny plays the role really well as one of lads who's up for anything. His chemistry with Gordon Alexander works well even though they have a couple of scenes together. It would have been interesting to see how Danny would have come across if he played the supporting lead instead of Freddie Connor who clearly struggles to make his way through the film. Jamie Foreman leads the cast as Dave the owner of The Grind. The story starts when we find out about Bobby's long term debt to Dave. The film also develops other characters such as Vince, who runs the nightclub for Dave. The film has some great trance music and the story explores issues such as trust, betrayal & loyalty. There are technical issues with the film which is expected when independent features are made which didn't make it great, but still worth watching.
