Fat Boy Swim,
This review is from: Fat Boy Swim (Paperback)
Obese Jimmy Kelly was always getting beaten up in school by class bullies Maddo, Dog Breath and the worst, Victor. He felt terrible and could not help but express his talents in school when they do cooking. He thought everybody hated him, until he met Ellie, the girl who also got bullied all the time. Jimmy thought he was different from everybody else, but he had a dream. to swim! The problem was, when he became a professional swimmer, everybody said that he swam like his dad. That's when he found out that his family aren't who he thinks they are.
I really enjoyed this book, it's emotional, depressing and also has a moral in it: DON'T HIDE YOUR TALENTS and NEVER GIVE UP ON SOMETHING NEW. My favourite parts were when Jimmy kept having these dreams about when he was in the pool and was trying to reach a shadow shape in the deep end.
My favorite character is Jimmy because he is the one that I feel most sorry for.
