This review is from: Batman & Robin [DVD] [1997] (DVD)
Why don't people get this film? Stylistically, Batman and Robin is absolutely stunning. Set design, costumes, lighting- the perfect homage to Batman of the sixties but done, oh, so beautifully. The film's definitely camp and silly.. but what's the problem with that? It's a different take on Batman and a really fun one at that. The acting is top notch too, with particularly noteworthy performances from Clooney, Schwarzenegger and Michael Gough. And who can dislike Alicia Silverstone looking amazingly sexy? I would've been very proud to have made this film. Thank you Joel - I will always LOVE Batman and Robin!

I agree man, this film is fun and thats what its supposed to be. It wasnt meant to be like the dark knight, the director was making it more like the 60s version. It sucks that people dont appreciate it for what it is, entertainment. I prefer Burton's Batman films but this and Forever is a blast

Oh yeah, suppose you're right....in a way...
A bit like taking an Audi R8 Spyder, and shoving a bucket load of manure over it's beautiful leather seats, expensive Bose stereo - and then taking a month to get rid of the stain, the stink and the stench... A canvas painting can be ruined, by making a choice of throwing a pot of paint all over it; just as Joel Schumacher has by ruining the mystery, Bat-like shadow of the original Tim Burton (and indeed Christopher Nolan) gritty Dark Knight.

er, no. Tim Burton's vision remains, untouched and complete forevermore. This is a different film.
And, btw, Batman Returns is arguably the dullest Batman film ever made and does more damage to the Burton Batman legacy than Joel Schumaker taking his own vision forward!!

Returns is dull?? Returns is one of the best, very dark, keaton is perfect as batman and the movie is so gothic and dark. Plus you cant get a better villian than Devito as the penguin

This is subjective; in all honesty, I agree about Batman Returns being a weak film - but that film is still 50 percent better than anything Joel Schumacher produced, Tim Burton may have gone too 'Nightmare before Christmas' in the second film, but his dark vision blows Schumacher's efforts to smithereens, for being a weak film - Schumacher's vision? - oh yeah? That's right - his vision - I think - the less said, the better to 'Joel Schumacher's vision' because it is SO bad, there are no words to describe it.
Schumacher was probably the WORST choice of director, given his record - The Client was, at least average, but nothing to write about, then there's Phantom of the Opera - what a turkey. At least Tim Burton has a quirky, darkly comic humour to his style, compared to Schumacher's rubbish.
