3.0 out of 5 stars Hmmm ... just ok., 20 Jan 2014
This review is from: Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1-inch - (White, Wi-Fi) (Personal Computers)
I am pleased with the way this tablet looks (like my Samsung phone, just bigger!), the size of the screen is perfect for surfing and playing games. I like that I can use it anywhere in the house with Wifi. It was super easy to set up and explore. Some great Apps to try out and the extra storage facility is very useful. However, it falls short on several levels namely :

1) a lot of times I am asked to install Flash player to view certain videos or games but it does not support that programme;
2) switches itself off while I am using it for no apparent reason
3) on certain websites it reverts back to the desktop screen without prompting or freezes completely until I switch off/on again. Sometimes this happens several times in a space of a minute and end up going to the PC out of sheer frustration!
4) the screen keyboard is very slow to pop up when I need to type something in a search box or log into sites and there is no button to request keyboard!
5) I cannot get it to work with our Samsung TV, just going round in circles
6) battery life is not great needs recharging every couple of days minimum

I am a bit disappointed because in my opinion it is expensive for what you get!

1) It does support it it's Adobe's fault they withdrew rights for android devices to use the latest flash player. You can't find the old version on the google play store therefore you have to do something specific to get it on the device. Point is the tablet DOES support flash player - just an older version.

2) The tablet screen will turn itself off if you have no touched the screen / a button in a while and if the SmartStay cannot detect your eyes (E.g. dark room or in weird position).

6) Battery life is down to opinion I think a couple days is good.

I've had mine for 7 months, with heavy daily use, and I'd like to address BerlinerPooh's concerns.

1) a lot of times I am asked to install Flash player to view certain videos or games but it does not support that program - never happened to me, must be the websites you go to.
2) switches itself off while I am using it for no apparent reason - Maybe you have SmartStay enabled (and wearing glasses or looked away).
3) on certain websites it reverts back to the desktop screen without prompting or freezes completely until I switch off/on again. Sometimes this happens several times in a space of a minute and end up going to the PC out of sheer frustration! - Also never happened to me, perhaps stop trying to view porn.
4) the screen keyboard is very slow to pop up when I need to type something in a search box or log into sites and there is no button to request keyboard! - Too many apps? Low memory? Using a skin? Many reason you could have a conflict causing lag. Mine's snappy every time.
5) I cannot get it to work with our Samsung TV, just going round in circles - Try a different remote app? Peer connected instantly to all of the TV's in mine and my boyfriends house, some new and some older.
6) battery life is not great needs recharging every couple of days minimum - Couple of days is good IMO. I get a day out of it, but I have bluetooth, wifi, filesharing, gps, 4g all turned on and also watch videos on it with brightness on full.

any ideas on how to play avi files and iso files on the s g t 3 10.1 ?

In reply to an earlier post on 28 May 2014 00:19:31 BDT
Shai says:
When you copy over files from your computer to your tablet it asks you if you want to "copy and convert" ... do that.

If the file format is fine, then you only need open the video player (in your apps list) and you should see all of the available files on your tablet.

If your tablet wont play them, you'll need to convert them from your PC, or you could possibly fine codecs on the net (advanced user).

Well I download alot of tv episodes and copy them to my tablet via USB cable. If the format needs to be converted it'll tell you when you copy it over.
