This review is from: Japanese: 70 Delectable Dishes from an Elegant Cuisine (Cooking Around the World) (Paperback)
Along with "Everyday Harumi" by Harumi Kurihara who can be seen on NHK (Your Japanese Kitchen) and is known as the Delia Smith of Japanese Cooking, I like this one very much.
It's small but very practical with many easily do-able recipes. As it says on the cover, there are 70 recipes. They are divided into sections on fish & meat; vegetable, egg & tofu; rice & noodle; sushi; soups; sweets; and party meals.
All the standard favourites appear. The only negative is that it errs on the side of western ingredients, for instance listing worcestershire sauce in a recipe where the very Japanese tonkatsu sauce would be far more suitable. Nevertheless, I would say that along with Harumi's books, it is the most-used of my dozen or so Japanese cookbooks.
