This review is from: How to Use, Adapt and Design Sewing Patterns: From Shop-bought Patterns to Drafting Your Own: A Complete Guide to Fashion Sewing with Confidence (Paperback)
Arrived today and bought based on reviews here. Whilst it is probably a good book I was disappointed. It is much more recent than my other books but doesn't add anything new. I ordered it together with Built by Wendy to which it pales in comparison, whilst I had expected more from this one.
Much of the content is similar to information provided free with bought patterns and in sewing magazines. The style is dry and informative like a text book which doesn't do much to get my creative spirit going.
The basic fitting alteration are pretty basic and suitable for beginners. The book doesn't cover more advanced fitting problems in strong contrast to the section on block fitting a dummy which is more intermediate and doesn't cover padding your dummy.
It covers a lot of ground but I can only recommend this to people who don't already own other sewing books.
My printed copy was faulty so I am planning on returning it. If it had been better I might have kept it regardless.
