Oh I feel such a traitor but...!,
This review is from: Elisabeth Sladen: The Autobiography (Paperback)
Let me first say that I adored Sarah Jane & Elisabeth Sladen (indeed, as a child, I was shocked to learn that they are actually two separate people!) However, this book has been a bit of a personal disappointment to me as Elisabeth doesn't come across as the person I thought she was.
As another reviewer mentioned, she is very catty - bitchy at times - about people who have no real right to reply, Jon Pertwee being just one. I am not of the school who thinks you should never speak ill of the dead - however, I do feel that you should never give just one side. Her adoration of him in some parts does not match with her intense criticism in others. She seems to be an impatient person, intolerant even - yet this isn't the impression I get from interviews with her. I do wonder if the ghost author just wrote down everything she said, even if she did not intend it for publication - the book was published after her death, so we are never know how much of it she approved. An uncomfortable feeling and, at times, an uncomfortable read.
