A helpful substitute until the new hitman arrives,
This review is from: Velvet Assassin (Xbox 360) (Video Game)
I believe this game is not currently recieving the credit it deserves. Yes there are many stealth games that sit firmly in the archives as all time greats, and although i am not necessarily trying to suggest this game be added, i think a lot of people have been quite hasty in their negative opinion of velvet assassin.
I am half way through, and i belive this game just needs some time to adjust to. Its intensity somewhat mirrors the hitman series and the graphics are top notch.
I think the gameplay is enjoyable and the stealth aspect is quite realistic. The A.I, as is said in the official review, does have a sense of realism and is quite easy to be shot and die from it. However it depends how real you want your games to be.
Having said that, there are quite a few checkpoints scattered about the levels so you find that you do not start that far back if you do die.
Music is ok, not a lot to it really, however i find that i am too busy concentrating on not being spotted by enemies.
To conclude, i think this game is a very decent attempt at stealth and espionage and i would recommend it as a purhcase. The achievements seem quite easy to obtain and the idea of a female spy in the second world war offers a fresh and original approach to its genre.
If i could i would have given it a 3 and a half star rating. Not really good enough for 4, but it sits above 3 in my view.
