Brutally intense modern Grindcore,
This review is from: Kill.Fucking.Everyone. (Audio CD)
These young men really are angry. If the title of the album wasn't a big enough clue, or the fact that it is released on Willowtip Records didn't tip you off, take it from me that something has upset these lads a bit. Nineteen songs in under half an hour suggests that you may be in for a high-speed, high-intensity blastbeat fest and lo and behold, that's exactly what you get here. Modern Grindcore at its most frantic with just the faintest hint of a Hardcore edge is what Watchmaker specialise in, and they do it as well as anyone. Politically charged lyrics, throat-shredding screams, caustic guitar work and the drums flogged to within an inch of their lives, that's what Grindcore demands and these lads deliver it in spades. If you're into bands like Nasum, Pig Destroyer or the older end of Napalm Death, Watchmaker will be right up your street. If not, they may seem just a little bit over the top in the aggression department. Granted, if your experience of Metal stretches no further than Linkin Park or Limp Bizkit then this is unlikely to instantly convert you to the more extreme end of the spectrum, but if you're already into the more brutal bands in the scene then this will be of great appeal to you. One of the heaviest, most intense albums available today.
