LA Private eye David Spandau is an intriguing and troubled character, a would-be cowboy and ex-stuntman, who is divorced but struggling to let go of his ex-wife. He is employed by an up and coming actor as body-guard and to help retrieve evidence that is being used for blackmail.
Followed in a parallel strand ex-con and muscle-for-hire Potts is another great character - and it would have been good to have followed that story further.
More concerned with dialogue and the characters involved, this fairly down-beat tale is not non-stop action, and you should not expect any Hollywood happy endings, but despite my lack of interest in the film industry, this kept me engrossed and entertained, and I will be looking for the next in the series as soon as it is out.
