A must read for Amy Winehouse fans.,
This review is from: Amy Winehouse - The Biography 1983 - 2011 (Paperback)I enjoyed the descriptions of Amy Winehouse's music and her concerts. A very balanced book, about somebody who at times became better known for the controversies than her music. I personally will always play Amy's music and this book is a must for every fan, because it alternates between sections about her music, or Blake. Various things said in defence of Amy, or putting things into perspective.
The book made me think that I don't really remember times before celeb media scandals and how everything is blown up. i.e. that such-and-such thumped a pap in the airport, somebody showing their knickers, somebody falling down drunk or on drugs... Yet Amy was somebody who dominated media scandal stories in 2007.
When reading the book, it made me think that it was the media, not the music industry who perpetuated the scandals and therefore made such stories sadly became bigger than her music sales. I don't think the music industry endorsed drug use or anything. So it was nice to read about the number of albums she sold and the number of awards Amy got. It was nice to read a book that also gave emphasis to her actual music and photos of her performing. The book showed that a lot of people were worried about Amy as well.
