Pro's and Con's, Not the greatest ever,
This review is from: Call of Duty: Black Ops (Xbox 360) (Video Game)
Okay lets start off by saying Black Ops isn't the greatest game of all time it has it's flaws but it is good fun
It reminds me of Goldeneye on the N64 in that the graphics weren't there but the gameplay was
A better way to think of it is it's not an advancement on Modern Warfare 2 it's an advencement on World at War
As you probably know there are 2 game developers for the Call of Duty series and they seem to take turns in releasing a game each year this one is made by the same people as World at War
Whereas MW2 feels quick and polished BO feels a little slower
I am a big fan of the COD series and really enjoy BO but beware of building this game up too much as other reviewers have stated the hit area is a little off (Something that could be patched i guess) and the graphics are no way near MW2 but the gameplay is there
It also has huge customisation ability and the newly introduced COD points make getting the attachments required for the LIVE games much better
Overall a great game but don't get carried away with the praise :)

The graphics of Goldeneye were sick when it came out.

have to disagree about the graphics, maybe not on par with mw2 but still good...

There's nothing about the hit area that needs patching, it's how it's meant to be and how it was in World at War and COD4. I'm rocking an early 3.07 KDR with it, so you better patch me while you're at it!

Thanks for being the only one that actually reviewed the came instead of talking about delivery problems. Somehow people have an understanding that this is customerservice? So thanks for that.

Thats a solid and balanced review. No game could live up to the hype a COD title generates, but I do see this as an improvement over World at War, and while graphicaly it is not as polished as the Modern Warfare series, I believe the wager matches, and some genuinely excellent map design, make the multiplayer a genuinely fresh experience.

Good review, did you waver between 3 and 4 stars? The multiplayer is great as usual but you can of course say that about MW2. The campaign couldn't have been lazier if it tried but the zombies are always fun. Glad I got it for £27 at Sainsburys if I had paid full whack I would have felt a bit cheated.

Hamster I have just read your review, it's very thorough and well written but this isn't a 5 star game. 5 star surely means perfect or close to perfect and BO clearly isn't. If you own COD5 or MW2 this is an expansion pack and not worth a full £40 more. I actually think that the tricks of the original MW that made it so ground breaking and fun 4 years on are starting to get stale and either they will have to genuinely evolve the games (rather than iterative improvements) or they will over milk the formula and start to see a decline in sales.
