Great Read and Info,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: 2600 Magazine: The Hacker Quarterly - Spring 2011 (Kindle Edition)
After buying this to download onto my Kindle I went to the 2600 website and ordered the whole series for 2011! Some of the articles in this issue include:
- Password Insecurity
- Password Bypassing and Clearing
- How to accept payments anonymously
- Virtual Anti-Forensics
- Automatic Usage of Free Wifi
- Transmissions (bluetooth)
- Coding Bots and hacking Wordpress
- Abusing the Cloud
I do prefer the original hard copy as I find it easier to make notes and just pull them out and refer to them. (The original hard copies are about the same size as a Kindle.)
Although published in the USA this is very relevant internationally - as most security issues cut across boundaries. Each publication covers a wide variety of issues and the articles are clear and easy to understand (subject to you having a degree of knowledge in this area). As well as the different articles there is the usual letters page - which is entertaining and along with the classifieds will give you access to other contacts and sources of information.
This is a quarterly issue and if you are interested in this type of security then this is a must. I also like the attitude of the editors who put forward a mature, responsible approach towards security.
Reading this publication will open your eyes to the vulnerabilities of many of your own systems - not just PCs/laptops, the internet and OS but also increasingly wifi and mobiles.
Of all the 2011 issues that I bought they all offer a good balance and all are relevant and each one is as good as the other. I know the publishers/editors are looking at many different ways to distribute this publication (such as PDF) so keep an eye out for different sources of download that may be DRM free!
