Fuji s2950 - Ideal for concerts (even if the "band" is no good!),
This review is from: Fujifilm FinePix S2950HD Digital Camera - (14MP, 18x Optical Zoom) 3-inch LCD (discontinued by manufacturer) (Electronics)
I bought my 12 year old daughter one of these Fuji S2950 bridge cameras to replace a Samsung compact that was possibly the worst camera I've laid my hands on. The 18x zoom appealed, especially as she's at that age where she wants to go to gigs all the time and the snaps taken with the Samsung at a You Me at Six gig before Christmas were, quite frankly, shocking, and no amount of adjustment could get a decent result.
Anyway, this Fuji got a proper workout at a One Direction "gig" (I use that term loosely, in this case), and to be fair her photos taken from the balcony of the venue in Nottingham were exceptionally clear and detailed, with no sign of motion blur or digital noise indicating that the AE was doing a good job of reading the conditions and setting up the camera accordingly on each shot. Very impressive, especially for a camera at this price point (I think we paid £109 in the run up to Christmas). She also took some 720p video and this is very good too.
Overall, she loves it, and that is a glowing reference from a tweenager, and good enough for me to throw a few hard-earned pounds at the S2950's big brother, the just released S4500 as a late Christmas present to myself.
If the S2950 is at the upper end of your budget, I'd say you wont regret getting this. I havent seen it take a bad photo yet.
