The Little Black book for Managers
This book in one volume quantifies and qualifies what make a manager and more importantly a good one.
The book is very easy to read or just look up a topic in the index and dip into. It is very well written with concise but accurate definitions of management functions.
It covers everything from the manager's responsibilities to practical advice on how to handle those awkward situations that we may face. The writing style is brisk, easy on the brain and at the same time entertaining - I don't think I have written those comments when reviewing management books before !
It is a small hardback (the edition I have) book that is easy to carry to read on journeys etc. It contains a lot of wisdom that is easy to understand and apply at all levels in management. It does make you think when you are in a practical management situation `What would the Black Book say to this?' Students of management could gain a lot of insight from this little book.
It's one of those books that come along from time to time that get you thinking, reflecting and on this level it succeeds brilliantly. I would recommend it to all managers as an informative but not to serious source of information on an all important job role.
