Recipes not at all nice,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Slow Cooker Cookbook: Time-Saving Delicious Recipes for Busy Family Cooks (Paperback)
I bought this on the basis of the preview since the author seemed to have some sensible, practical advice to offer on using a slow cooker. I've never used mine anything like to the full so I was looking forward to trying some new recipes.
What disappointed me a lot was the author's dependence on tinned food, bottles of cook-in sauces, and other such chat ingredients. Since I cook everything from scratch, this just wasn't the sort of cooking I was interested in.
I did try a couple of the recipes. The red cabbage and apple tasted just plain wrong. Too much orange in it. Do you need orange at all with red cabbage and apple? The meat stew came out overdone and more like a soup.
I think the book will shortly be on its way to Oxfam and the slow-cooker to freecycle.
