A super book. Very readable. Backed up by evidence.
The first half of the book is theory-based, but written in a friendly manner, which shows that the author understands and cares about the sufferer. It is particularly helpful that he directly addresses and challenges common barriers to recovery and change.
The second half of the book is laid out as a self-help section, using the specialised CBT-E/CBT-BN that was developed and is used in Oxford. This provides a helpful section for sufferers with relatively mild problems to help themselves with the help of a supportive friend / family member / healthcare professional. For those with more severe problems, who need specialist medical / psychiatric input, this section is helpful for understanding the rationale for the treatment and therapy that they are receiving, and can be used as a "reference manual" alongside individual therapy.

PS - forgot to say - the second edition is even better than the first. Updated with more recent evidence and some of the theory chapters padded out a little more. It's a really super book and one of the best self-help books I've read on eating disorders; certainly the best I've read on bulimia/binge eating.
