This review is from: Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 - Move Compatible (PS3) (Video Game)
Well here i go again with what seems to be my now yearly review of this franchise, it seems every year i tell myself not to bother but i love my golf so i always give in, This year i was initially surprised as at last the game had seemed to have turned a corner somewhat but certain aspects have taken a big step backwards.
So let's start with the graphics, As far as courses go there has been some good improvements indeed everything looks very lush indeed with some beautiful water and sandy bunkers which are very pleasing to the eye so top marks there although still when the wind is gale force the trees do not move, small thing i know but not very realistic.
Game face has been improved so your golfer looks much better now with some nice moving hair and clothes that flap about in the breeze, and there are some absolutely wonderful (although completely lurid) trousers on offer, Ian poulter eat your heart out, these are spectacular and are sure to raise a giggle.
Pro golfers this year however are awful and quite possibly the worst player models ive ever seen, they resemble a cartoon and not even a good one,and next to the lovely courses they look ridiculous so nil points there, Another point worth mentioning is that they all walk and move like robots, i mean it's 2010 surely they can program someone moving naturally....well maybe not.
Ok on to the gameplay, there is now the true aim option to play the game as well as the usual way, True aim is basically a golfers eye view of every shot which just gives you average distances shots will go but you must line it up without markers and from where you are, Thus making the game harder and very sim like and it's a nice touch to play either way.
The a.i of the pro players has been greatly improved, they now make mistakes and altogether you feel like you have a chance and unlike previous years you do and it makes the game sooo much better.
I like the focus your player has, it means to use spin, powerboost, putt preview etc it slowly drains the meter but makes you play better which is good, There are some problems with putting though and the preview is completely wrong half of the time and ive found it better not to use it plus it's more fun that way.
Also included this year is the ryder cup which is another nice touch, so great effort this year then...well yes and no.
The new xp point system is poor, In order to get better stats and better items you need xp but the rate you earn it is so terribly tedious that to get better it will take ages of play to get and while i welcome some longevity it just isn't fun this way, you can however purchase these online along with courses but to be honest after you have already payed for the game and the price charged it's a complete rip off, although very typical of ea, it seems as if they have made the xp go up slow to get you to pay the extra, well no i won't and another mark disappears for that.
As far as the game goes it's certainly the best since 07 but still not as good as that, and when you consider that game only had half the features this has it boils down to the fact that after all these extras 07 was the more professional game and to this day i wonder what this game would have been by now with the other development team oh well
So yes it's certainly better than it has been for years but that's not saying a great deal as after all is said and done there isn't enough here that's overly different fom previous years and in some ways it's worse and unfortunately it isn't worth getting if you already own an earlier version.
With the release of the new John daly golf later in the year at last this franchise will have some competition and truly i believe this is the only way this will improve this series, competition never hurt anyone and hopefully this will buck up their ideas but only time will tell. 3 Stars.

Great review The Lost Golfer. The Tiger Woods series has needed to move on, but like your good self, i hope that with every new version EA might start to give us the golfing experience we expect by now. Why do i tell myself that with every passing year, that the next version will improve from the previous, only to be let down time and time again. The courses are lush, the sound and ambient effects are good, but for all this the courses still dont feel alive. No visual representation of the birds or water foul that are forever present in the background audio, dreadful animation of the pro golfers, and nothing but the same old lets all clap together animation of the crowds. So i totally concur with your review mate, EA need to stop regurgitating the same old template and take the franchise in a new and fresh direction. Kind regards Simon.

J. Luxmore says:
I would like to know if there are any fantasy courses in this game. I like to play multiplayer games with my friends & the fantasy courses always are the most fun. There have been some great ones in the past & if EA can't be bothered with them any more then I won't be buying this game. Does anyone agree?

No fantasy courses since way back J. Luxmore. EA tried to steer away from these courses in order to make the game more realistic, but hence a lot of the fun factor was lost by doing so. EA indeed it seems, in my opinion cant be bothered.See my comments posted 4/7/2010.

It's the development team that are the main problem, Since 07 the team that made the absolutely dire outlaw golf have been the ones behind tiger and in 4 attempts they still have not got it right.
The team is lazy and and as you so rightly said seemingly cannot be bothered.
By now we should have the ultimate golf sim.......We haven't!

Can i just say great Review The Lost Golfer and yes there are some very valid points in there but lets be realistic here are we starting to expect too much from EA ?? i beleive so yes simple because there have been improvements and although the game itself is an A+ because it is 2010 and we have amazing computer technology we are over estimating what we want in a game, its a computer game not a real life sports sim !!!! Just be glad that each year EA brings us another epic Tiger Woods game for us to enjoy, and yes they will pump out games every year but it is why we love the game itself and why we buy it !!!!

Thank you very much for your comment, It's nice to see some refreshing constructive views.
Ive no problems with ea for certain games but it seems that this series is just stuck in a rut and very much behind the times both graphically and sound wise, I mean links 2004 on the original xbox looked better than this. Ive said for a few years now that a fresh new approach to the series is now needed and i think a new team would be the best thing for it. Or take some time off with the franchise and rethink the direction.
If john day's golf is even average then it will make ea think and hopefully everybody will win.
Thanks once again for your views.
