Depends what you're looking for....,
This review is from: Football Manager 2014 (PC DVD) (DVD-ROM)
I fell in love with this series a long time ago and have dedicated ridiculous amounts of hours in the meantime. However 2013 and 2014 editions of the game have been a giant step backwards in both enjoyment and fluidity of play, now in terms of realism it may well have improved to the point that if you want to be even semi-successful within the game you have to analyse games and tweak tactics endlessly until you have a tactic that 'works' which then the AI becomes aware of and begins to deal with it....so the process begins again. Ive even had periods of success within the game but it is no longer enjoyable, its like you're fighting a losing battle for the entire time you're playing it. Now Im sure there are some people who would want FM to be like a real job and in that case "fill your boots" but for the average person it is used as an escape from the real world and from our jobs and studies. There are certainly an increasing amount of bugs too but as I say I have really lost interest....even though I picked it up for £6 from Steam on a discount! If this is the new direction SI are going in (which judging by two editions in a row suffering from the same problems it probably is) then I am bitterly dissappointed. I cant tell you enough how frustrating the game is, surely nobody wants that in a game!

I'm sure a lot of folks really enjoy the extra 'realism' the extra features provide, but I think they missed a big opportunity in not enabling folks like us to swith those extras off.
