Carlo Curley: J.S. Bach, Favourite Organ Works,

This review is from: Bach: Favourite Organ Works (Audio CD)
Sadly, Carlo C urley died prematurely in 2012, but he left behind a substantial legacy of skilfully and sensitively performed
organ recordings, this one played on the four-manual,102-rank organ built by E.M.Skinner in 1932 and installed in the chapel of Girard College, Philadelphia. For those familiar only with the classical organs of Europe and the UK, the string voices of
American organs, especially this one, are a revelation. Their sweetness of tone is well illustrated in Bach's "Arioso" which Curley himself describes justifiably as "hauntingly beautiful". This piece alone makes this CD an essential purchase for any collector of
organ music. RIP Carlo.
