Lowcountry Boil by Susan M Boyer,
This review is from: Lowcountry Boil: Volume 1 (A Liz Talbot Mystery) (Paperback)
Liz Talbot returns to her home town to bury her Grand-mother following an accident, but remains to solve the mystery of her murder. To solve the mystery she also has to confront why she left.
This book had one of the best opening chapters I've read for a while. A fast paced setting of the tone and introduction to the central characters followed. Liz was a well drawn interesting heroine, full of issues and contradictions, such as carrying a hand gun and a hand sanitiser with her. The pace and humour continued but at times the number of characters acting oddly without explanation slowed the plot a little. But it picked up again towards the end and I enjoyed every twist and turn to the last page, as Liz solved the town's mysteries but not those of her own heart.
A thoroughly enjoyable read.
