Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This is a cable router, not an ADSL router. This is clear on the product page. I use ADSL so can't comment on how well it works as a cable router - mine connects to the internet via a separate ADSL router.
This offers gigabit ethernet, but as I've only got one gigabit-capable device I can't comment on how well it works. As a router it appears to work perfectly well, the wireless offers a stable signal (stronger than the router it replaced, which was an elderly Netgear device) although I had troubles with the guest mode. It may be user error, so I'll need to fiddle with that to see if I can make it work.
Setup is easy, it's got a web-based interface that's more customisable than I'd expect to need. Since I'm so used to the Netgear approach it felt a bit strange at first but it really is just a different way of doing things - Netgear is what I'm familiar with rather than being inherently better.
Aside from the possible issue with guest wireless access (which would be really handy, as it would mean I could give visitors my wifi password without giving them access to anything other than the internet) it's hard to fault this device.
