Myanmar 2012 Essentials,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Lonely Planet Myanmar (Burma) (Travel Guide) (Paperback)
Whenever we travel the guide book is often the first purchase. This book is the most used guidebook we have ever used. It was used to find out what to see, review what we had seen, learn more about the culture. It is an excellent guide and essential for anyone visiting the country. The only reason it has not got five stars are there are some updates required. Prices vary so ensure that you know how many Kyat to one, five and ten dollars. The exit fee of ten dollars was not charged. Negotiate prices you often get between ten and thirty per cent off. Know all exchange rates as prices may be in dollars or kyats or yuan so know how many to the pound.
The maps are very good. Most hotels give maps but the details may be inaccurate. Better deals are had by talking to the locals and this also puts the money into the local community rather than the Government. This book is a must for anyone going to Myanmar (Burma) this year, we went to Yangon, Bagan, Mandalay and Inle Lake which is the central tourist trail.
