Run of the mill action movie - err i mean book,

1st things 1st this novel felt far more like an action movie than a novel, it has all the trademarks that I associate with a pure action movie: paper thin characters, a plot that requires that you actively don't think about it and a fair number of visceral dramatic action sequences that are screaming to be put on the big screen, and a near endless supply of cannon fodder who get left dying all over the place. However this book doesn't read like a screenplay it actually reads like a novel but one that is lacking the depth that I would normally associate with written word.
For all the weaknesses of the book and the oddly stilted writing style of the author (can't put my finger on what's wrong with the writing but the sentence construction felt awkward and clipped, almost like it had been poorly translated from German), I read it in a couple of days and as long as I stopped myself from thinking to deeply I really enjoyed this novel. If you are looking for an easy mindless read then I highly recommend this novel - it strikes me as an ideal novel to take on holiday and read on the beach.
Oh and if Lock ever makes it to the small or big screen I will be more than happy to go and see.
