Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)Strangely enough I find this series (first broadcast on Radio 4 earlier this year) quite fascinating - so much so that I almost don't miss the visuals that relate to the soundtrack (what? RADIO 4 not BBC4? SOUND ONLY ehh? ah well, never mind) - Occasionally one notes the same sound clips from episode to episode but that is almost inevitable when one is dancing between objects with common linkages...
Certainly the enthusiasm for the objects, the artworks, and the monarchy in general is palpable and carries the programmes along like an irresistable tide.
BUUUUUUT. This is a series that calls for visuals, if not in a dirty great book then on a dirty great screen.
going to a web address [...] (LUMMY! and what an address!) just won't cut it... and if you go to the website you may as go to iPlayer and listen to it there for free.
Therefore only 3 stars and a rap across the shoulders for someone at the Beeb.... ARISE to the demands of your subject next time.
