Berghaus Freeflow 25+5. Purchased April 13.,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Berghaus Freeflow 25+5 Men's Backpack (Sports)
The pack arrived promptly and I am pleased with the quality of materials and the various features of the pack including the top and side pockets.
Some points to note:
The back is adjustable in length depending on your height (see any relevent Youtube video). As I’m 6’3 the XL setting was the most suitable but the waist strap was slightly above my hips and across my stomach. I mention this point only because my last pack had a waist stap that sat on my hips and so the height of the pack might be a consideration for taller people, but this was okay with me after a bit of getting used to. Someone had previosly said that they found a limit on the chest strap size, for me this had plenty of length and would have been okay even if I had a much bigger chest size, (perhaps any issue was on an older version?).
Having completed a 10 hour walk in both snowy and warm/sunny conditions (British weather in April), I found the pack comfortable to wear and easy to put on and take off and easy to apply the waterproof case included in the base of the pack. There is room in the pack for waterproof jacket, trousers, two 2 litre bottles of water (so 4 litres), a thermos flask a small lunch box as well as various small items like hats and sun glasses.
It seems that you do lose a bit of room inside the pack for the free flow system. If I was required to take a sleeping bag as well then it would have been a squeeze.
Overall - I thought this pack to be excellent and I remained sweat free all day, so the free flow is a great invention in my opinion. This was a good purchase and is clearly both well designed and produced, I would highly recommend this pack for a day walk.
