Ashkenazy's interpretations are unmissable,
This review is from: Beethoven: Favourite Piano Sonatas (8, 14, 15, 17, 21, 23 & 26) (Audio CD)
Recorded in excellent late analogue sound, Askenazy's interpretations of this collection of "named" sonatas shed new light on these pieces. Frequently whilst listening to this collection I have caught myself noting that what I am hearing is very different from other, more traditional, interpretations and yet is equally valid and, for me, more listenable and more involving. Maybe not for anyone who thinks that there should only be one way to play Beethoven, for the rest of us this is a gem of a set.
