V.Good indeed - talent still required for good photos!!,
This review is from: Fujifilm FinePix HS10 Digital Camera - (10MP, 30x Wide Optical Zoom) 3 inch Tilting LCD (Electronics)Very impressed with the build quality and features - you need to play about with it for quite a while to get the hang of each of the features but good results are easy to achieve with the 'auto' functions whilst you're busy getting to grips with the rest of it. Pity there isn't a motorised zoom - manual is brilliant for stills photo's but it's hard to keep the camera steady when zooming and videoing at the same time. The HD video is otherwise excellent. A handbook would be good - but as is more popular it seems these days it's a 'digital handbook' - I just find it a pain having to be sat in front of the PC or printing out the bits I need - much easier to just thumb trough an instruction manual.

A printed handbook is available free from Fuji on their 0800 number. On other Fuji cams with an electric zoom there are complaints that motor noise intrudes in movie mode. Zooming while filming is rarely a good idea in any case, and in stills mode an electric zoom can overshoot and delay a photograph. A manual zoom is much more of a pro feature and better in almost every way than a power zoom.

Good to know about being able to obtain a handbook from fuji. As I mentioned in the review manual zoom is brilliant for stills photos but I'd still like to zoom while filming video, can't see why that would be a bad idea - lets face it you aren't going to shoot a feature film with a video function on a still camera. I'd happily live with some 'motor noise' in exchange for having the ability to zoom without causing excess camera shake. The ideal would be motorised zoom that you can switch on and off - but you can't have everything!! Great bridge camera in my opinion though for anyone who - like me - wants something better than a compact but isn't ready for the step up to a DSLR yet.
