This review is from: Doctor Who: The Day of the Doctor - 50th Anniversary Special [Blu-ray 3D] (Blu-ray)
The show: a lovely, memorable 50th anniversary to one of the UK's best-known and loved TV shows. Fantastic stuff. The picture quality is amazing, and also included are the minisodes "The Last Day" and "Night of the Doctor".
The disc: what on Earth went wrong? As I was watching, I noticed that the sound effects sounded garbled and "swooshy". Wondering if I had a faulty disc, I searched online for "Day of the doctor blu ray audio problems" and found a link to a couple of well known Audio/Visual sites and the bluray.com forum. Sadly, it ISN'T just my disc- it's the blu-ray run itself.
Some people believe this error that makes the sound truly awful is due to the slowdown used on the blu-ray for picture quality or compatibility with 3D. Others think it's a processing error.
Either way- this is a serious audio problem that IS present on ALL blu-ray editions. The BBC are not concerned with it- many folk have emailed them with no consequence or even real acknowledgement. Save yourself disappointment, and don't buy this faulty piece of rubbish.
