This review is from: Some People Have Real Problems (Audio CD)
All I can say is, if you're wondering whether to buy this album or not - do it. It is most certainly Sia's best album, and every song is amazing. It is completely flawless.
It is hard to just pick a few of the best songs, but the opener "Little Black Sandals", definitely grabs you from the beginning; it is about having the strength to walk away from a bad relationship, and contains the wonderful lyrics 'Thank you feet for guiding me / I'm glad I've got some brains down there, at least.' "Day Too Soon" is lovely and positive, "The Girl You Lost To Cocaine", "Academia" and "Playground" catchy and fun. My favourites on the album are probably the heartbreakers, though: "You Have Been Loved" ('You dropped the bomb / And now you're gone / I held you, dear / You swallowed my fears / And now I've drunk my last beer with you') is absolutely gorgeous, sad as it is, and "Death By Chocolate", although it takes a few listens, is a beautiful, reassuring song, one to listen to when you're feeling down, containing the lyrics 'Just let him go, he can't hurt you / Oh little girl this is such a cruel cruel world / This is the first, of a million broken hearts' and 'Oh, it won't be long / You will grow strong / Up up and away / He's but a falling leaf...' Amazing. Finally, a mention must go to her stunning cover of "I Go To Sleep", which is in my opinion better than the original; and I love the original!
Sia is witty, brave and different...she is also extremely entertaining, and a fantastic songwriter. This album is without a shadow of a doubt her best work. Buy it, now.
