Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Emotional Freedom: Techniques for dealing with emotional and physical distress (Paperback)
I suffer with ME and have long known that many of my symptoms are aggravated if not caused by long-term emotional issues so I bought the book on that basis. I found the book a little complex but then I can't take much in due to concentration problems but I understood the concept and decided to try the treatment, I found a local therapist and am currently undergoing treatment and feel I am finally on the road to recovery. I lent the book to a friend and so decided to give her it and buy another that is what I am about to do.

I have recovered from ME and can say that emotional stress, which depletes the system and lowers immunity, is definitely a maintaining factor which stops the body healing itself. You definitely need to do an emotional and mental spring clean and get rid of negative/stressful ways of thinking. However, this illness is multisystemic and you need EVERYTHING in your favour in order to get well, including a nutricious diet, low stress, help so that you are not physically overexerting yourself. You have to have everything weighed in your favour as ME/CFS is not an emotional illness, but a prolonged period of unremitting stress (which lowers the immune system) prior to contracting the virus which triggers it off (or if not a virus, then chemical exposure, or travel injections or another factor that knocks the immune system) are certainly factors. Emotional health is certainly key for recovery from this terrible illness and for a fulfilling life when you get better. The other book I would recommend is Barefoot Doctor's LIBERATION, subtitled: "The Perfect Holistic Antidote to Stress, Depression and Other Unhealthy States of Mind", which was like a friend to me in the months that I was bedridden and had such bad neurological/cognitive symptoms that I could not listen to music, look at a computer or TV, manage more than a few minutes on the phone and could barely read. It's bite-sized, is all about getting rid of negative thoughts and emotions and bringing about peace of mind and acceptance and living in the NOW. It has stuff about energy meridians too. The rest of the book was so good that I just gave the energy stuff a go too. Anyway, I'll get off my hobby-horse... Good luck to all those with CFS, Fibromyalgia or any other illness who is in search of wellness. Stress is a killer and is a factor in the cause and prolongation of so many illnesses. Mental and emotional wellness is key for physical well being too!
