Our Lady of Blessed acceleration, don't fail me now!,
This review is from: The Blues Brothers [VHS] (VHS Tape)
From start to finish, this toe-tapping, soul-filled sensation of a movie will have you dancing, clapping and jivin' along. John Belushi does an excellent portrayel of the deadpan, bad attitude younger brother, 'Joliet' Jake Blues, whilst Dan Aykroyd plays the rather more....um....naive (?) older brother, Elwood J Blues. The pair together make for the best comedy duo - EVER. This pair, teamed with the all-star supporting cast (Including Cab Calloway, James Brown and Aretha Franklin) and some of the best Rhythm and blues musicians of the time, travel through Illinois on their 'Mission from God' to collect money for the tax on the orphanage where the pair grew up.
Unmissable scenes include: Most of the film! Although, more memorably, the amazing car chases, demolition of a mall and appartment block, and Jake dropping his jilted fiance (Carrie Fisher) into the mud! Personally, I also loved Elwood chatting up the lady in the car (Twiggy)
The song list includes the theme from Rawhide (Sang by the oh so delectable Dan Aykroyd!), Everybody Needs Somebody to Love and Sweet Home Chicago, to name but a few.
All in all, this is one film that neither you, nor your children, nor their children, and children in many generation to come, will ever regret you buying!!!
