This review is from: Silent Hill: Revelation [DVD] (DVD)
I like to think that I always give every film I watch a fair trial and I try and see the good points in all of them. This film, however, is beyond defence. I would imagine that, from reading some of the reviews, this film is only enjoyable to people who are familiar with the games that it is based on. I have not played any of the games to any length, so I am not qualified to comment on those. I have seen my fair share of awful modern horror films and this effort falls solidly into that category. Doesn't anyone know how to make a good horror film these days? All this film seemed to be was a series of different scenes, edited together with no obvious story or reason to make them understandable. I could not sense any plot at all and Sean Bean's awful American accent make me laugh too, but that is always a bad sign when it is not meant to be funny. I quite enjoyed the first film, though that was no classic either, but it was miles ahead of this effort. I also had to laugh at Dean Boor's comment on the front of the box...apparently, he considers it to be "Film Of The Year". Yeah, right, dream on. One star only for this complete mess of a film. Simply awful.
