This review is from: Gabriel's Rapture (Kindle Edition)
In truth, although I understand the reasons for comparing 'Gabriel' with 'Fifty Shades of Grey', I think it is quite misleading to do so. The similarities are only superficial; both are love stories -and- Gabriel & Christian are both breathtaking.
However, I don't think all readers who enjoyed Christian's story would automatically be captivated by Gabriel. The main reason is that Sylvain Reynard sets his story against the backdrop of the academic world. His narrative reflects sensitivities which contrast quite sharply with FSoG. There is a delicacy and a much more spiritual (and intellectual) aspect which will appeal to some, but not all readers.
Speaking as an 'old' adult reader, I have thoroughly enjoyed both books so far. Beautifully romantic and erotic. Exciting and intriguing. Thought-provoking and toe-curling. At times amusing and at other times reflecting profound.insights.
I knew a little about Dante, but I have been inspired to find out more. Surely that is praise, too!
I am really looking forward to reading the third installment.
