Dull and uninspired ...,

Coming off like an attempt at a modern day version of an Evelyn Waugh novel (think 'Vile Bodies' and 'Brideshead Revisited') I found this novel to be unengaging and uninspired. Concerning the trope of an 'innocent' involved with a family far beyond his/her social class and family experience it doesn't add anything new and is very derivative.
For a better, modern, interpretation of this type of storyline then try 'The Interestings' by Meg Wolitzer or just try Waugh.
