4.0 out of 5 stars Mossie swansong from Bowman, 2 May 2009
This review is from: Mosquito: Menacing the Reich: Combat Action in the Twin-Engine Wooden Wonder of World War II (Hardcover)
.. at 320 densely-printed pages this is a handsome collection of accounts from Mosquito pilots & crew. However given that Bowman has written extensively on the Mosquito it is rather difficult to know which of these have appeared elsewhere. There are some new pieces, including some excellent first-person accounts although Bowman can hardly take the credit for these. A little expensive but the Amazon discount once again invites a purchase if you have any interest in the wooden wonder!

Is "Mosquito menacing the reich" a sequel to the same author's "Mosquito mayhem" ?

Or is just the addition of a handful of first-hand accounts that made the editor (author ?) change the title ?

I have perused through your reviews which enabled me to discover "French eagles, Soviet heroes", thank you for that.

Just like you I have come to despise "Sniper on the eastern front" giving it the lowest mark possible.

We also seem to hold the same grudges about Osprey's publications.

Are you an RAF serviceman ? Je suis moi-même de l'Armée de l'air.

Lyon as in Lyon Mont-Verdun ?

So you do recommend this book, right ? Any other ?

I've taken a liking in the Beaufighter recently and the ground and naval attacks. The air ops in the Aegean brought back to memory its existence and impact on WW II strike attacks. Any info on Beaufighter books ?

Merci d'avance.

another Bowman Mosquito title " Achtung Moskito " if you really want to splash out. It costs £50 and is published by Schiffer. I'm sure that some of that book must be in this one or vice-versa - difficult to tell. No I'm not a serviceman, but a girlfriend's father worked on the base at Salon

Achtung! Moskito!
