NOTHING QUITE LIKE MID 80'S-EARLY 90'S INDUSTRIAL/ELECTRONIC,
By A Customer
This review is from: Cleanse Fold & Manipulate (Audio CD)
Almost any Industrial/Electronic/Dance music within the era of mid 80's to early 90's is of great interest to me and there is nothing quite like it in terms of Synth-based music.
This is another great Skinny Puppy album from that era. The distinct mid-late 80's beats are present, sounding very much like Front Line Assembly's 'Gashed Senses & Crossfire' and 'Total Terror' and the mini-albums 'Corrosion' and 'Disorder'in terms of beats. The sample side of the music reminds me mostly of FLA's 'Initial Command' album. All other aspects are not really comparable to anything else.
This is a good album to listen to when you need something that is really wierd and takes you on a very old horror movie type journey through your own dark imagination. May take a few listens to get full effect and appreciation of, but this is highly recommended to all who like any of the albums I have mentioned in this review.
I like the 'VIVIsectVI' album very much, and I think it's Skinny Puppy's best album, but 'Cleanse, Fold & Manipulate' is just as great, but don't expect it to sound like 'VIVIsectVI'. Well I can't really say that any 2 Skinny Puppy albums sound the same or have the same effect on the listener.
Another thing I must mention is that I can listen to this cd multiple times in one sitting without getting bored, drousy or feeling like I have already listened to this once need something different. I guess it's because this is something different.
