I hate it!,
This review is from: barnes & noble 9781400699032- - ^NOOK SIMPLE TOUCH E-READER (Electronics)
This is the worse thing I have ever purchased. This displays in black and white and is like going back in time. We are in an age of internet TV with 3D affect and this product has absolutely no place in the modern day. Who watches a black and white TV?
Yes it is light.
Yes it is cheap.
It is not simple. You have to drag pages across the screen. You struggle to get back to the home screen.
Book covers are in black and white so you can not even be captivated by the cover of the book. Whoever said you can't tell a book by its cover is a liar. This gives you nothing eye catching to want to even look at a book. Its all black and white.
They claim to have this vast library which is completely limited and far too expensive.
Anyone who has a Kindle Fire will pass out if they see this gadget from the dark ages.
The only thing modern about this is you need Wi-Fi to download the books which works but looking at everything in monochrome is just too much. They have magazine subscriptions how on earth can you look at a magazine in black and white.
I brought this because I did not want to take my precious Kindle Fire onto a packed commuter train for fear of damaging it. I thought this was lighter and cheaper but am not prepared to forfeit the joy of a colour display. It's awful
I absolutely hate it and I have wasted £29.00. Thank goodness I have my Kindle which is absolutely perfect, has internet, has books that are reasonable and has such choice. I typed in some of the books on my kindle and they are not on Nook so too limited.
Buy a Kindle Fire and enjoy that instead.

What a ridiculous, pathetic, biased and inept review. Do you actually think people are stupid enough to just read and believe it with out looking into a few basic facts?
So let me get this right, you are comparing the Nook Simple Touch to the Kindle Fire, if you had even half an ounce of common sense you would know that the direct competitor to the Kindle Fire is the Nook HD, which for the record is ALSO in colour, it uses Android operating system and is STILL at least £10 cheaper then the Kindle normally, but at the moment due to an offer the Nook HD is £40 cheaper, Oops, did you think no one would check that out.
The ACTUAL Kindle you should have compared the Nook Simple Touch to is the Kindle PAPERWHITE, which for the record is also in oh, gasp shock BLACK AND WHITE!!!, kind of rains on your rant about the Nook being backwards compared to the Kindle, doesn't it, since they are both Black and White, the Kindle also has access to LESS books than the Nook as Nook uses ePub (amongst other types) ebooks which are available from MANY more suppliers, don't believe me use your search engine to search for "The eBook File Compatibility Chart" and compare the Kindle to the Nook!
So you have to drag the finger across the screen to change page do you?, sure about that are we, try pressing the buttons on the left and right of the screen, you know the little raised soft rubber bits, 2 on each side of the screen, see what happens, yep you changed page, are you STILL sure you have to drag your finger across the screen to change pages? Struggle to get back to the home screen, press the "n" button at the bottom and press the "Home" icon, hmm real struggle that one.
IF you are going to write a review, at least TRY to make it look like you know what your talking about as this review just makes you look ridiculous, ill informed and lazy for not getting your facts even remotely close to correct. As it is it sounds like you haven't even used a Nook and are just raising a review to try to knock the Nook as you clearly haven't got a clue of the most basic facts.

The writer is so correct. I went to the local library and the tried to fob me off with books in black and white.
I advise the writer to go to the children's section where there is lots in colour, and best of all lots and lots of pretty pictures, and not crammed with those darned words.

Mr. J. S. Dare says:
Off course it is in black and white, it is an ereader not a tablet. A bit of research prior to purchase would have been a good idea.
