clarity about chaos,
This review is from: Albuera 1811: The Bloodiest Battle of the Peninsular War (Hardcover)
Albuera has always confused me because it seemed so chaotic and the previous accounts I read did not untangle the chaos so the events had no 'logic' or rationale. Without motivations of what the various officers were seeking to do, other versions gave no insight. Dempsey resolves all that. The whole bloody tragic mess at least now has its own internal rationale. A very nice book.
