iT Slows the internet speed down to Half,
This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WA850RE 300 Mbps Universal Wall Plug Wi-Fi Range Extender/Wi-Fi Booster with Ethernet Port for Wired Device (WPS Function/Easy Configuration) (Accessory)
I have now used it for over a year and decided to write this review. The range extender is without question one of the easiest to set up, it takes minutes.
The down side is that it slows down the internet by about half. I knew that the speed on the TP-Link range extender was going to be halved as it extends the range but it also slowed down my main router by half everything just slowed down and my network felt really sluggish.
It also keeps dropping connection constantly and have to reset it again and also on occasion's although you will see that its connected there is no internet it caused me a lot more headache, thinking my phone and laptop etc. were faulty. Then all I did was switch it off then restarted it and internet came back on again this was after changing my main router as I thought that was faulty.
I have now replaced this with a " TP-Link TL-WR841N 300Mbps Wireless N Cable Router" and created a wireless bridge in about 5 minutes using the instructions. This is a cable router but works much better and get full speed and also have 4 Ethernet ports now. Gives a much stronger signal and also can have a different SSID and different password from my main router but I did turn off the DCHP which means that I can still connect to all my other devices on the downstairs main router as all the devices will get their iP address from my main router and I also changed the LAN address so that it wasn't the same as my main router address.
